Taking place in Columbus, Ohio, a sold-out Rock On The Range again proved why it’s one of the best festivals of the year, and it’s just as much about the people as it is the music. While performances by Marilyn Manson and Slipknot were ocular sensations alone, it was the festival crowd that provided the more fantastic visuals. Throughout the weekend, the crowds sang, they swayed, they rocked, and some even cried. Seeing your favorite bands on stage is one thing, but being able to see a lot of them in one place is incredible.

Scott Weiland has been around for years, but he’s done all sorts of different things with different people in the world of music. At Rock On The Range, it was time to do his thing with The Wildabouts, and that meant he was bringing forth his signature megaphones for everyone in Ohio. Early on Saturday, a small break in the rain happened when Weiland and the Wildabouts took to the Monster Energy Main Stage. Weiland played some older stuff, but relied mostly on his first Wildabouts album “Blaster” which just came out at the end of March.

Unfortunately, the rains really picked up near the end of the set and it made a number of fans run for cover. It was just too early in the day for them to be soaking wet, but they still were rocking out to Weiland and The Wildabouts from a distance. While “The Way She Moves” was newer for most of those in attendance, it was the older hits that really got them going. “Crackerman,” “Big Bang Baby,” and “Vasoline” were just a few of the Stone Temple Pilots’ hits that sent the crowd into a frenzy.
