PAREDES DE COURA

The night was quite cold and after the QOTSA’s virtuous performance something special would have to come. After the freezing members of this band left the stage, an immense silver cloth with the name of Stone Temple Pilots immediately went up. The public reacted to the movement on stage and frantically waited for the band to appear. The lights went out and a haze of smoke enveloped the stage. The most attentive admirers saw the beginning of Weiland’s monologue in “Wet my bed” and, shortly afterwards, unlike D. Sebastião (who never appeared on the much desired foggy night), the STP broke through this tenuous barrier, taking over from the unbeaten Portuguese territory.

Weiland was the last to enter the stage. He was dressed all in black, but with an eccentric brush of color in his hair. This is now orange, who knows if to match the brand new “Shangri-La Dee Da”. The unmistakable sound of the STP echoes in the magnificent natural environment of the Festival, unraveling, through its powerful rock, many ears of children who were only there for Papa Roach. The rhythm of the concert was unstoppable! Weiland on the 3rd song no longer had a shirt, elegantly snaking his bare, tattooed torso. Kretz was inspired, demonstrating once again his power on the drums. The least expansive seemed to be Robert DeLeo, unlike his brother, Dean, who often went to the edge of the stage, much to the delight of the audience.

At the end of “Down”, the band ended its regenerative performance and Kretz threw his drumsticks at the audience. Dean also threw a reed at the audience, and Weiland his towel … for my comfort, my boyfriend took a bottle of water that Dean threw … Yeah right … water. Buá again!. As expected, the STP returned to the stage for the encore, playing yet another song. However, what surprised those present were the simple garments of Weiland, who came in with only a US flag covering his family jewels. The phrase “My name is George Bush … my name is George Bush” echoed through his megaphone, until his voice broke out in the first few sentences of the controversial “Sex Type Thing”. The delusion was general! Some kids who were in front of me and who had initially commented to each other that “… the guy must be gay …”, swallowed hard at such a performance and in the end applauded as much or more than I did.

The show ended … very quickly, I say. The concert lasted 1 hour and 15 minutes!

Moral of the story: The STP seem to be more united than ever, showing immense pleasure in playing together. In the end, they embraced and emotionally thanked the audience. Another day won in the personal battle with drugs that Scott Weiland has been fighting since last year. Everyone has to agree that Weiland, and consequently the rest of the band, never emanated as much “natural” energy as it does now, wasting vitality.
