BI-POLAR BEAR

Combining the phrases “bipolar disorder” and “polar bear,” Scott Weiland arrived at “Bi-Polar Bear,” which he wrote after he and his wife Mary Forsberg were diagnosed with the condition. Wondering if there was something in their brain chemistry that was causing them to be temperamental and impulsive, they went to a psychiatrist who confirmed the diagnosis.

Weiland refused to take medication for the condition, thus the line, “Left my meds on the sink today.” The video appears on Thank You DVD as a photo-shots series, the band playing in tour in USA or around the world and with the song playing in background. “Bi-Polar Bear” was also performed occasionally, after the band reunited in 2008.

So I’m letting it go again
I’m halfway full on

Left my meds on the sink today
My head will be racing by lunchtime

Don’t sleep behind the wheel at the stoplight
Can’t sleep behind the wheel as you’re driving home
You keep coming down the hill as you’re falling
You keep falling from the hill as you’re coming down
Can’t sleep behind the wheel at the stoplight
Can’t sleep behind the wheel as you’re driving home

So I’m holding her hand again
My palm sweats
Hold on
Think I’ve had too much coffee
I’m manic as hell
But I’m going strong

Left my meds on the sink again
My head will be racing by lunchtime
