PEPSI MUSIC 2008

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS finally arrived in Argentina and, despite the years, they could deploy all their power on the stage of the City Club of Buenos Aires and closed with all the 2008 edition of the PEPSI MUSIC festival. But before STP made its appearance before that patient crowd of fans who came to hear them for the first time live in Argentina, there was time for the “surprise band” promised by the organizers. The special guests were not other than the Massacre, who had already played in this edition of the Pepsi seconding Babasónicos. The band of Walas and company once again demonstrated their great moment between classics and songs from their latest and successful album, El Mamut, and left the stage very hot for the entrance of Weiland, Robert DeLeo (bass), Dean DeLeo (guitar) and Eric Kretz (drums), strange and too formally dressed (singer, vest and tie).

With BIG EMPTY and some problems – quickly overcome – of Weiland in the voice, Stone Temple Pilots began to retrace a powerful night, which would take place for songs like WICKED GARDEN, LOUNGE FLY, SOUR GIRL, VASOLINE, BIG BANG BABY, LADY PICTURE SHOW and TRIPPIN ‘ON A HOLE IN A PAPER HEART, almost all of the first three albums of a band that has released five plaques in its career (Shangri-la Dee Da was the last, in 2001, after which a long separation ensued ). But the climax of a show that lasted just over an hour and a half would come with the classic CRACKERMAN, CREEP, PLUSH, INTERSTATE LOVE SONG and DOWN, which provoked the most angry reactions from fans and approval songs that generated some surprise among Americans : “Ole Ole ole Ole…. Pilots, Pilots “. By the time of the encores, which were made to beg a little, Weiland appeared in a well-worn Argentine poncho, but with a cowboy hat on his head.

It was time, then, of powerful interpretations of SEX TYPE THING and DEAD AND BLOATED (both of their first album, CORE), accompanied by an audience that did not stop jumping and crowned by applause that asked for more. But, despite the pleas of those who wanted to take a few extra minutes of Stone Temple Pilots in Argentina, that was all and the PEPSI MUSIC 2008 came to an end.
